Cleric Finds 'Life' Questionable

the layoutist says:
Seriously, Independent Media is the only thing standing in the way of total hegemony and mental tyranny. It is the workers taking control of the means of production. It's you screaming in the wilderness to the bears and rabbits (i.e. your neighbors) about how unbalanced everything seems and would you just turn off the TV for a sec.!

Instead of throwing a bunch of numbers and factoids at you, here's what Molly Ivins from The Free Press has to say about the whole thing:
If newspapers were just another buggy-whip industry, none of this would be of much note -- another disappearing artifact, like the church key. But while Wall Street doesn't care, nor do many of the people who own and run newspapers, newspapers do, in fact, matter beyond producing profit -- they have a critical role in democracy. It's called a well-informed citizenry.

I think that sums it up best, and that's why I'm making a big stink (also the beans last night, but that's another story). It may all seem like much ado about nothing, but so is a flag unless it has a solid idea to prop it up.

So, hammer those keys into the night. Tell us what's going on in Saskatchewan or Kuala Lampur. The increasingly scared-for-their-lives pro-reporters probably won't get around to it as they are dodging 'merican-made missiles and kissing ass to save their jobs at NewsCorp.

This is one of the best ideas you've had yet. I am delighted that Vigilance is resurfacing and will do my part in maintaining a free press.

This may be the only one we have left! Let's use it while we still can.
