Yes dear readers, I have been remiss in my blogging lately. It's because I have gone back to Washington (you might have noticed previous entries with pictures & sounds from the airplane) and haven't felt there was much to say. After all, I'm not in L.A. so what can possibly be of note.
It's true, I've just been eating chili and gassing myself while batting flies. I've slowed down to the country tempo and my speech pattern has taken on more pauses. However, something quaint, charming and interesting has happened all the way out here in the boonies.
The annual fair in Quilcene (my home-base for the last couple of years) took place and it was the first time I have felt accepted here. Almost as a welcome home, the parade took up staging right in front of my house. People waved & were nice and seemed genuinely glad to see me (I used to have a job here that made people uneasy; a story for another time).
I was also able to enjoy the festivities for the 1st time, not being part of the crew. The picture above is from the Burn-out Exhibition where car owners flex their metal muscles. In a place with such pristine-smelling air, it's kind of refreshing to be doused in a cologne of scorched petroleum.
If you care to see more photos, simply click on the image in this entry. It will take you to my flicker.com page, as with most of the photos on here. Check out the car show pics, it was really sweet. I will add more photos, too, when I get more bandwidth.
I also plan to write a piece for NowPublic.com, a free newsource. I will give a link when I do. I know I'm slow, but whaddaya want for nuthin'...
